Youth Challenge 2010

The exhibition itself was held from 8th to 10th April. The inauguration was held on the 8th at 9.00 am in the morning as the president of Maldives Mr. Mohamed Nasheed was present. His Excellency visited all the stalls and APIIT was one of them. The participation of students was satisfactory.
Maldives has quite a population who are interested in higher education, but since they do not have any means they tend to start degrees/diplomas in countries like Sri Lanka. With low living cost and tuition fee, Sri Lanka is a better get away for them than Malaysia or any other European country.

There is a potential crowd for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. There was a big demand for the Law programme. It was apparent that institutes in Sri Lanka now, are now becoming aggressive competitors when it comes to Maldives market.

With the economic and social changes in the country, students now are more concerned about the higher studies. More than several enquiries were from students who have done diplomas and first years or foundations at MCHE or at institutions like Cyryx or IBS.

However, students who seek to continue their higher education in a degree awarding institute amounts up to quite a number
